Common questions

Safe FAQs.

The questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, just call us - we're happy to talk it through.

Can you open my safe without damaging it? +
Most of the time, yes. Our techs use manipulation and decoding techniques that work on the vast majority of safes. We'll only resort to drilling if the safe has a relocker triggered or the lock mechanism is genuinely broken - and we'll always tell you in advance if that's likely.
How long does opening a safe take? +
Anywhere from 15 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the safe. Cheap retail safes are usually quick. Older mechanical combination safes take longer because the technique is delicate. We charge for time-on-job, but we'll give you an estimate before we start.
Can the safe still be used after you open it? +
In almost all cases yes - because we use non-destructive methods. After opening we can also reset the combination or replace the lock, so you have a fully functioning, secure safe ready to use again.
What about gun safes? +
We install Firearms Act compliant gun safes (Category A/B and C) that meet Victorian and NSW police requirements. We can also assess and update an existing safe if you're not sure whether it's compliant.
Do you supply safes or just open them? +
Both. We carry a range of brands and can advise on the right safe for your situation - cash safes, document safes, jewellery safes, gun safes, fire-rated safes. We'll match it to your budget and what you actually need to protect.
Can you install a safe in my home? +
Yes. Most home safes need to be bolted to a concrete slab, floor joists, or a wall to actually be secure - otherwise a thief can just carry the whole thing out. Installation takes about 1-2 hours depending on the location.
