Are smart locks actually secure? +
Quality smart locks from major brands are at least as secure as a standard deadbolt - and often more so, because they don't have a key cylinder that can be picked or bumped. The 'security' weak point is usually the user choosing a guessable PIN, not the lock itself. We'll help you set them up properly.
What if the battery dies? +
Most smart locks give weeks of low-battery warnings before they go flat. Even if the battery does die, every quality smart lock includes a mechanical key override and/or external power point so you're never locked out. Battery life is typically 6-12 months on standard alkaline.
Can I open my door from anywhere? +
With a Wi-Fi enabled smart lock, yes - you can lock and unlock the door from anywhere with internet. Useful for letting in family or tradies when you're at work. Bluetooth-only models work within range of your phone.
Do they work with Airbnb? +
Yes - we set up plenty of locks for short-stay hosts. The system can auto-generate a unique code for each guest that only works during their booking dates, then expires. Saves keys, lockboxes, and meeting guests at all hours.
Do you support smart home systems? +
Yes. Most quality smart locks integrate with Google Home, Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings. We'll set up the integration and show you how to add voice control or routines if you want them.
Can I keep a regular key as backup? +
Most quality smart locks include a mechanical key cylinder for backup. So if the battery dies, the WiFi drops out, or you simply prefer keys, the lock still works the old-fashioned way. We can rekey the backup cylinder to match your existing house keys.
